Things To Do
The attractive lakeside town of Zell am See has a different feel to it than most Austrian ski destinations. Perhaps because of its size or its water front location, this is not the normal mountain village made up of a few dozen giant wooden chalets. Full of character and crammed with friendly cafés and bars, scenic Zell am See offers its visitors everything from the active to the more relaxing.
The slopes have a lot of variety and challenging terrain. A favorite among skiers are the slopes on the near by glacier of Kaprun. These are not to be missed. The lake is popular with water-sports enthusiasts, offering an excellent choice for those who enjoy sports and activities, it's also a fabulous setting for a swim. The village of Zell has a beautiful, historic centre with a bustling, pedestrianised area, perfect for browsing the variety of shops and pavement cafés.
Take the cable car up the dramatic Schmittenhöhe for superb panoramas of the Salzburgerland and the Hohe Tauern National Park · Packed with activities - you'll never run out of things to do - Fun, lively and an excellent choice for families with children of all ages!
